Cathedral Square.
Catholic Central high school, St. Andrew grade school and the 125 year old St Andrew’s Cathedral are seated in the core of downtown Grand Rapids. It was Bishop Hurley’s vision to include a new 100,000 square foot diocesan administration center with the idea of creating a unified campus that weaves into the urban fabric, is sustainable and pedestrian orientated. Central to the design concept is the transformation of a major street into a pedestrian experience complete with ornamental paving, landscape and bioswales that mitigate and manage urban stormwater.
